About To Start

So our first event is creeping up. The gallery will have a booth at the 4th St Art & Antique Market in downtown Bremerton from 9am till 5pm. It has been a lot of work to get to this point, but it will all be worth it to see our art being enjoyed by many others from the community that we wouldn't normally get a chance to meet. I know I, if not more of the artists, will be popping in to check out the affair and I encourage you all too as well. We hope to meet everyone and get a chance to share the wonderful works we have to offer.

Moving Along

Jane and I met up today and exchanged ideas and covered ground. She got to step into my work space and get a feel for how Cody and I work. We talked about displays and selling and art rotating. Everyone is getting nervous! But also very very excited. Jane took all my completed art off my hands and I feel almost relieved. Looking at all those finished pieces was always a little ego boost, but most of the time I just saw flaws and things I needed to change. It's hard to move forward and make any new stuff when I'm obsessing about all that. So I have a tidy clean area now. Hopefully this will bring great new inspiration.

Jane is going to learn the ropes of the credit card transaction dealy on the 4th and pass that knowledge onto me. Then it's work work work all this month. Unless something pops up in April, we have all month to prep for our kick off in May. We're waiting for better weather to test out layouts for the booths. But Jane's beginning to make her rounds collecting art from all of us great artists.

And more importantly we are still on the search for local WA artist who want to get involved with our growing little gallery. I have a few people I'm hassling to work with us because I believe they are incredibly talented, and I'm going to pass along some contact info for amazing art instructors I know in the area. Students create magnificent art and we would love to tap into that. A huge part of the mission of this gallery is to create opportunities and give experience to people who haven't otherwise been able to get themselves and their beauty out there.

So my current mission is to create a business card for the gallery. I'm excited. I know what Jane likes and I have a few things in my brain already. I'm so happy Cody got my project journal back to me because I need it for this one.

Keep creating guys. And please spread the word about us!

Getting Closer

So Jane and I have been working hard! She's met with some artists and has begun gathering everyone's work for sale. Yesterday she got to finally view Vasim's art in person, and she reported that it was even more wonderful than could ever be photographed. I'm anxious to see every else's stuff too. I'm so curious and excited for all of our display preparation. Jane also got cracking on how we are actually going to be making these sales. So soon I'll be learning me some cool new credit card charging stuff.

Everything seems to be coming along nicely for everyone. I picked up frames for all my 11 by 14 art yesterday and everything is moving forward. I'm still painting with furocious drive and keeping my ear to the ground for other artists' vibes. I've come across some great photgraphy that might soon be featured in Our Gallery. And I have a wonderful woodworker up my sleeves who just needs to move his booty and send me pictures to move along to Jane.

Be sure to keep up with us on http://twitter.com/#!/our_Sunflower and like us on Facebook!

Developing

So I'm sure all of us are on the same page at this point; it's all about presentation! And that is finding itself to be very difficult. I don't know how all the other artists are doing, but framing and finalizing are nearly taking longer than some of the pieces themselves for me personally. But I am persevering, and staying productive.

More art has been added to some of the personal pages. We also added a new Watercolorist to the mix. Applications are still being filled and sent out. We have so many great ideas underway!

Work Work Work

Getting everything together for this blog is actually pretty difficult. I still need a lot of pictures and some people still have to get their Bio's up. But I think it's a great start. It's a nice place for all of us artists to come together and show our work and gain feedback. I have updated all of our pages, and enabled comments and share it links, so please please please critic away! Inquire about, ponder on, peer upon, gaze at, and visually molest our creations and keep checking back for more updates. The count down is on!

Also if anyone in the Puget Sound area knows of any good venues for the Gallery in the month of May we are open for any and all suggestions!

It's Getting Close

We want something in our gallery to make you smile at least once!

Our Sunflower Gallery Roadshow is a unique concept in that it is a totally nomadic art consignment gallery. By selling artwork at farmers markets, art fairs and pop-up-stores we are taking art to the customer and not relying on the customer to drop in. By taking a gallery on the road it allows us to have a much more diverse customer base and as such we can offer a much more eclectic gallery stye than some of our contemporary static competitors.

Our goal is to consign as many start up and unestablished WA artists as we can, instill in them confidence to show their work, and hopefully provide a stepping stone to greater things.

The Packet if you want to join us.
